Nature in miniature: 03-13.09.2007 at Cisnej

Comfortable boots on your legs and a camera and map under your arm. Looking for interesting topics for discussion about environmental protection, young people from Romania, Slovakia, Germany and poland will meet together for a few days. Comparing the situations in different parts of Europe we’ll establish our strong and weak points in how we manage the rubbish that we ourselves produce. Our experiences, thoughts, complaints, conclusions will be sent into the ether but first putting them into short films and a colour calendar. See you there!

Urgent call for support and direct action as wildest European valley (Rospuda) goes under axe from 1st August!

Rare species face extinction (including wolves) as Polish authorities declared Rospuda Valley to be destroyed for building an express road despite an alternative route being available. For several years, ecological organisations (Workshop for All Beings, Greenpeace) and environmental scientists have been leading battles to save the valley.

You will yourself want to protect this nature site if you see it, especially if corrupted authorities are going to destroy it forever. Make your mind up before the destruction; afterwards, it will be too late. There is a camp established by Greenpeace and Workshop for All Beings. The camp is between…

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_rights

Animal rights, also known as animal liberation, is the movement to protect non-human animals from being used or regarded as property by humans. It is a radical social movement insofar as it aims not only to attain more humane treatment for animals, but also to include species other than human beings within the moral community by giving their basic interests — for example, the interest in avoiding suffering — the same consideration as those of human beings. The claim is that animals should no longer be regarded legally or morally as property, or treated as resources for human purposes, but should instead be regarded as legal persons.

The Seattle-based Great Ape Project is campaigning for the United Nations to adopt a Declaration on Great Apes, which would see gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees and bonobos included in a “community of equals” with human beings, extending to them the protection of …
