Common Call for a Transnational Chain of Migration-related Actions In the “heart of the monster”: Amsterdam, Sevilla, Torino, Bamako, London, Athens, Warsaw, Hamburg, Malmoe, Ceuta …

Between February and October 2008 a series of events, protests and actions will take place in various cities and countries all over Europe and beyond : against the border regime, against detentions and deportations, against the exploitation of migrant labour and for legalization of all migrants. This transnational chain of struggles builds on the three action days for freedom of movement and the right to stay, which happened in previous years. But with this chain of events we are aiming for someth…

dead refugee conforming to European Union standards

How many victims among African refugees? FRONTEX: between Warsaw and the Canary Islands

What’s FRONTEX? FRONTEX is the French abbreviation for « frontières extérieures » (external borders). The full name says more: FRONTEX is the “European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union”. According to official government information, the agency, which started on 3 October 2005 is responsible for coordinating, supporting and training services responsible for the “security” of external borders. On the surface, it looks like just another EU super-structure, intended to support local agencies. However, both the specific aims of the agency (control of and blocking immigration) and its wider powers (semi-tra…

Today, in Sunday, on 7 October, at the Russian embassy in Minsk an action of solidarity with Russian antifascists took place.

More than 50 people participated in the action. Participants honoured the memory of four victims, killed in recent years in Russia by the hands of neo-Fascists. So was extended banner “No to fascism!”.

Four participants were detained by police during this action. Now they are located in central ROVD Minsk.

Spontaneous meetings around the city are happening right now.

By this action we wanted to state that we cannot quietly look as in adjacent Russia with the taciturn connivance of authorities, extremist neo-Nazi groups act openly. None of them was stopped at the preparation stage for their terrible crimes. How much more people must die before the a…

Nature in miniature: 03-13.09.2007 at Cisnej

Comfortable boots on your legs and a camera and map under your arm. Looking for interesting topics for discussion about environmental protection, young people from Romania, Slovakia, Germany and poland will meet together for a few days. Comparing the situations in different parts of Europe we’ll establish our strong and weak points in how we manage the rubbish that we ourselves produce. Our experiences, thoughts, complaints, conclusions will be sent into the ether but first putting them into short films and a colour calendar. See you there!

International No Border Camp Aug.11-20 (near Uzhgorod)

The camp will take place from the 11th to the 20th of August 2007 in the main region of transit and labor migration in Ukraine: Transcarpathia.

The eastward expansion of the European Union has resulted in moving the walls of “Fortress Europe” to the Western border of Ukraine. The Ukrainian region of Transcarpatia, of which the biggest cities are Uzhgorod and Mukachevo, has become a new borderline, with increasing militarization and major concentration of detention camps for refugees from the countries of Global South and former USSR, who try to escape war, totalitarianism or misery to the European Union countries. It is hard to find any “open” information about the conditions in the majority of these camps.

The condition of the refugees in…
